MINUTES - HAMPTON PONDS ASSOCIATION

MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2008

The meeting as called to order at7:00 p.m. by President Rosalie Dupont,
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A moment of silence followed for all those active
service men and women, veterans and all others that died in service to our country. There
were 18 in attendance.

Secretary Barbara Giroux read the Minutes of the March 3'd meeting, Nelson
Dionne made a motion to accept as read, seconded by Paul Bluemer.

Treasurer Janet Sanuita distributed the Hampton Ponds Budget - March 2008 to
all for review. Balance n all accounts:$ 16"305.83. Incomef or the month of March was
$3,214.50, and expenses totaled 5T,226.32- Janet reported a preliminary figure of profit
for the prime rib dinner of $752.00, and it will be officially reported on the April Budget
sheet at our next meeting. GREAT job, Janet! It was a GREAT DINNER cooked by
Kerry Sicard, and a GREAT TURNOUT by our community. Barbara Giroux made a
motion to accept the Treasurer's Report, seconded by Nelson Dionne.

A new member was at our meeting....Nancy Heidenreich who lives on Bluemer
Road in Southampton. WELCOME NANCY!

A discussion followed about the Newsletter between Don and Kim about the
format to use so it can be put on the website. Kim and Don will work this out. Kim asks
that everyone send articles, events, and any news to her for the next edition. THANKS
KIM, a lot of work goes into this!

Don Leger reported on the Weed Eradication Program. Pre-inspections by
Aquatic will be done in May, and treatment in June. GREAT work Mr. Weedman!

Doris Rivard reported that she has received a total of 4 applications to date for
scholarships for the 4th of July, and they will be coming in this month and early part of
May. Thanks Doris!

Paul Bluemer reported that the Vets have started the work for clearing for the
pavilion area. One guy got sick and had to go to the hospital, so they had to put it on
hold. They may seed it to hold the soil, per Paul. The trees that were removed were all
deformed and of no use which is GREAT!

Regarding Candy Bar sales - Rosalie reported that Pat Haber and Doris Rivard
have been selling for funds for the Playground, and Rosalie believes that there is only one
box left. Anyone wanting to take bars to sell was encouraged to do so!

Barb Giroux called Emma Maloney on April 8fr asking if she knew that Ann
Heiser, City of Westfield Parks Dept. is leaving her position.' She did not know this.
Emma immediately called Ann. Ann said that the budget and everything is in place.
Emma said Ann will advise the man taking over her position about this, and Ann will be
in touch again with Emma before she leaves, which is around the 25th of this month.

Barbara Giroux will send a Thinking of You card to Charlie Medeiros. Also Barb
will also send a Thank You to someone suggested by Art Goulette when Barb receives
the name and address.

Barbara Giroux E-Mailed Former Mayor fuck Sullivan this morning to confirm
that he's been in touch with Steve Dickinson, Community Police, to assure that he's
given Steve a key for his office at the State Park so the City of Westfield, Towns of
Southampton and Holyoke can all use. Rick Sullivan confirmed that all is in place!
Parade Marshall for our July 4e Parade was discussed. Barb Giroux made a
motion that we ask our New Mayor, Mike Boulanger, to be our Parade Marshall,
seconded by Paul Bluemer. Barbara Giroux will prepare the letter for Rosalie's signature
and send to Mayor Mike to extend the invitation. The backup discussed was Chief Scott
of Holyoke.

Paul Bluemer reported on the employee of Wal-Mart submitting for the HPA for
an event and Wal-Mart would match funds. Paul got some information, and it was given
to Barbara Giroux to complete the required forms, and speak to Deb regarding this. The
deadline has passed for this year, but we can file for next year.

Kim Goulette brought up a question about doing Picnics and Concerts on the
Beach. After discussion, it was decided that because they were not successful events,
we'd pass on doing these functions.

We discussed the 2008 Fundraising Events in a lot of detail. For Clean Lakes, we
need a minimum of $7,500.00 per year, and for next year we will have $6,000 extra to
pay in upfront fees as our term has expired for this program, and will need to commit for
another 3 - 5 years for continual treatment of our waters. Barbara Giroux will send a
follow-up letter checking on the status of our Grant monies for Clean Lakes. President
Rosalie Dupont asked Don Leger for an itemized list of expenses for the Weed
Eradication Program for last year, and projected costs for this year. Also, we need to
speak with Nancy Pasquini re: the boat raffle tickets. Nancy did a GREAT job of selling
most of the tickets the last time.....will this be a go for the July 4th event - Nancy?

Regarding scholarships, we do have our monies for this year, but need to start
building up for next year. When our CD becomes due, Janet will take the monies needed
out for this year, and just open an regular savings/checking account, whatever pays the
best interest, for the additional funds in this account towards next year. Janet reported
that we received a check from the church that rents our HPA Hall in the amount of
$250.00 for which we are very thankful...and this is to be applied towards scholarships.
-JA
discussion followed about the profit made from the prime rib dinner, where is
this allocated to....after much discussion, Paul Bluemer said that there was vote taken on
this and it's in our Minutes, so a new vote is not necessary. Whoever Chairs the event
decides where the monies will be allocated to, and in this situation, Janet Sanuita got our
new cook and so, per Janet, the funds will go towards Clean Lakes.

Janet will speak with Kerry Sicard to see if she is interested in doing future
dinners for our HPA. The 3 dinners that we have that go towards Scholarships are: The
February dinner, March dinner, and November dinner. Janet will speak with Kerry about
the menus she'd be interested in cooking, since she's cooking off-site, she'll need to
make the decisions on what's best for her to prepare and bring into the hall.

Pete Sanuita brought up a recommendation that we should separate the beer/wine
table from the raffle table as Angela is always so busy doing the raffles. Perhaps if it was
a separate table, we may receive a higher total of donations this way. Our newest
member, Nancy Heidenreich, offered to work at this table for us.

Paul Bluemerr received an invoice from The Vets for $1,500.00.....Paul will speak
with Nancy and Nancy will let Janet Sanuita know how we've handled this in the past.

Janet Sanuita reported that a special gift of $25.00 was given to the HPA from
Gary and Joyce Krause of $25.00 for the boat ramp.

President Rosalie Dupont asked about where you get a sash for the Parade
Marshall, and Art Goulette graciously offered to handle this and will get back to us at the
next meeting - Thanks Art!

A motion was made at 8:30 p.m. by Paul Bluemer to adjourn, and seconded by
ALL!

Respectfully submitted

Barbara Giroux
Secretary
