The meeting was called to order at 7:13
p.m., followed by a moment of silence for those active service men and
women, veterans and all others that have died in service to our country.
There were 15 in attendance. President Suzy Tracy was not in attendance,
and Nancy Pasquini suggested that our newly Elected President, Rosalie
Dupont….take over the meeting which she so graciously did, and did an
EXCELLENT JOB with the “gavel” provided by Pete Sanuita!
Secretary Barbara Giroux read the Minutes
of the February meeting. Nancy Pasquini made a motion to accept as read,
seconded by Doris Rivard. There was a question about the wording that the
tickets for the corned beef and cabbage were being raised to $10.00, but to
clarify this, that sentence was referring to the February Minutes where it
was voted that the adult tickets be $8.00. Doris checked her records and
she found that last year we charged $11.00, so making them $10.00 for adults
and $3.00 for children seemed fair to everyone. And, because it was a slow
day for the Westfield Evening News, Secretary Barbara Giroux’s photo was on
the front page of the 3/5 edition…..fixing a plate of corned beef and
cabbage for a senior citizen at our HPA building on 3/3.
The Treasurer’s report was placed on hold
for this month with the transition for the Treasurer’s position from Nancy
Pasquini to Janet Sanuita. BUT, Doris Rivard nicely provided us with an
“estimated net profit” figure of $644.50. Per Doris, the total income which
includes ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, and drinks totaled $1,522.50.
Janet will give us the report at the next meeting of income, expenses,
etc…..GREAT turnout, everyone ENJOYED! It was discussed about having an
April dinner, but this was tabled.
Don Leger sent an E-Mail to our Fundraising
Committee Members at 11:23 a.m. on 3/5, as he was unable to attend the fund
raising committee meeting which was held at 6:30 p.m. on March 5th.
He has started a website for the Hampton Ponds Association as follows:
www.hamptonpondsassociation.org and will be working with other committee
members to have our Newsletter, flyers, functions, etc. posted on our site.
He is also interested in any historical stories and photos of the Ponds for
posting to the site and asks us all to please share memories, photos……and
E-Mail to:
webmaster@hamptonpondsassociation.org. Rosalie mentioned that we also
have another website, and she was going to research this and get back to us,
as we only want to have one website. Pete Sanuita was “appalled” that his
name was left off of the Fundraising Committee Members and Kim assured him
his name would be placed on there immediately! Nancy Valego is going to
work on scheduling concerts and also contacting bands. We ALL need to
remember to check on liability insurance when scheduling events to make SURE
we are covered!
Mike Potenza shared with us that Waste
Management would be a GREAT potential for contributions towards our Weed
Eradication Program, Clean Lakes, etc. Mike asked if we had literature,
letters, etc. so he could present to them. Janet Sanuita has information to
provide, and also Nancy Pasquini said she has a booklet and also a letter
from Fish and Wildlife which she will provide to Mike.
The PC-3 filing was brought up by Rosalie,
and Nancy Pasquini said she is working on this now.
Nancy Pasquini gave to Secretary Barbara
Giroux, a letter addressed to Community Preservation Committee on behalf of
the Westfield Community Police Department inviting us all to attend the 9th
Westfield Citizens Police Academy. They had instruction classes this
evening, and the Police Academy is to begin on October 1. If anyone is
interested, please visit the website at:
www.westfieldcommunitypolice.com.
Kim Goulette photocopied and passed out to
everyone, the Constitution and Bylaws of the HPA. Kim also passed out a
sample format of our Newsletter which she will be publishing in the future –
GREAT JOB Kim!
There was no New Business or Old
Business……Nancy Valego asked that the new officers for President, Vice
President, Treasurer and Secretary pose for a photo after the meeting and
Nancy gave a questionnaire out for each to complete and return and copies
were also given to the new Board of Directors (and alternate Board of
Directors). And since Ray Dionne and Don Leger were not there….they will
need a copy if they haven’t already received one.
Doris Rivard made a motion to
adjourn at 7:40 p.m., seconded by Angela Belisle.
