The meeting was called to order at 7:00
p.m. by President Rosalie Dupont, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A
moment of silence followed for those active men and women, veterans and all
who have died in service to our country. There were 13 in attendance.
Doris Rivard did a BEAUTIFUL JOB preparing a Hampton Ponds Association
Meeting Attendance Form which we will now use for every meeting – THANKS
DORIS, GREAT IDEA!
Secretary Barbara Giroux read the Minutes
of the October 1st meeting. Paul Bluemer made a motion to accept
as read, seconded by Patsy Bluemer.
Janet Sanuita submitted the Hampton Ponds
Budget – October 2007 which also included the Dinner on 11/3 and our
Walk-A-Thon. Profit for the Dinner was $480.27 (an additional $10.00 &
another $21.39 was submitted after the report had been finalized) and Profit
for our Walk-A-Thon was $553.00. Barbara Giroux made a motion to accept as
submitted, seconded by Rosalie Dupont.
Old Business: We reviewed the Missions
Statement, Charter and By-Laws. Rosalie Dupont made a motion to keep as is,
seconded by Paul Bluemer, and voted unanimously by all. It was also
discussed that this information should be stated the same on our website,
and needs to be revised by Don. Don Ledger – EVERYONE agreed that you’ve
done an EXCELLENT JOB on the website and we THANK YOU for all your volunteer
time that you’ve spent on this. Also, wondering, Don, if you could submit a
link on the site for the Membership Application? Janet Sanuita has the
information re: Missions Statement, etc., perhaps you can have a chat with
her about what should be on the website, as we discussed. Also, we were all
wondering how many hits have we received on our website. AND, Inc.
needs to be added to where it says “Hampton Ponds Association”, as we are
incorporated.
Janet Sanuita did an EXCELLENT JOB on our
liability insurance coverage. Janet advised that this insurance covers all
of our special events, rentals, contents of our building…….This took a lot
of time, and we appreciate your efforts, Janet!
The GOOD NEWS was that we received a letter
from the IRS stating our $1,400.00 Penalty was waived….Special Thanks to Sue
Lastowski, Accountant, which Janet brought on board to handle this for us!
The donation of the boat to Jericho was
brought up again….on HOLD until spring, per Nancy Pasquini.
The Hampton Ponds Association Calendar of
Events for 2007 was passed around by President Rosalie Dupont and it was
noted where the proceeds are to go towards, i.e., scholarships, clean lakes,
playground, general fund. It was reviewed by ALL in
attendance, and there was a unanimous vote that all is
in agreement as stated on the Calendar of Events 2007 as submitted.
Janet Sanuita advised that Emma does have
the $2,000.00 needed in the account to approach the City for help for the
playground. Nancy Pasquini spoke with Emma and told her that Home Depot and
Wal-Mart are giving out monies, and she should apply to them. A question
was brought up whether we should charge rental fees when Emma uses the
facility for events. Joe Giroux made a motion that we do NOT CHARGE Emma
when she uses the building for functions, seconded by Pete Sanuita.
Barbara Giroux has been having discussions
with Charlie Medeiros, Acting Mayor, City of Westfield for monies for our
Clean Lakes. Barbara spoke with him again on 11/6 and Charlie is to get
back to us about available funds. Charlie also attended our Turkey Dinner
and gave a nice donation, and Janet Sanuita will send a Thank You card to
him in appreciation.
The discussion came up again re: ‘New
Application for Common Victualler” and it was agreed by all that Nancy
Pasquini who has completed this form in the past, will work with Rosalie
Dupont to complete and submit. The Board of Health can come in at anytime
to review this document and inspect. This should be posted in our glass
case on the wall.
We received with regret……the resignations
of Fran and Deb effective March of 2008, our cooks for all of our HPA
Dinners. They’ve done an EXCELLENT JOB and we’ve so much appreciated all
the VOLUNTEER time they’ve put in, as well as all their family members. A
lot of time was put in shopping for food, cooking….no words can EXPRESS our
THANKS! They will be MISSED! We will table this until January to decide
how we will handle future dinners and functions held at our HPA Hall.
Our 11 month CD is reaching maturity, per
Janet. A discussion followed, and Rosalie will research area banks to get
the best rate for us.
An interesting point was brought up, Janet
& Pete Sanuita and Don Leger attended a Congamond Meeting in Southwick where
there are around 900 homes. They do several fundraising events and they
obtained some good ideas for future fundraisers. Their group is like ours,
many people live in the area and pay their dues, but few come out to the
meetings – just a select few does it all. We THANK you three for taking the
time to attend this meeting to bring back helpful information to us.
Special thanks goes out to President
Rosalie Dupont for conducting a GREAT, ORDERLY meeting…all who wanted to
speak was recognized by the President first.
A motion was made to adjourn at 8:25 p.m.
by Rosalie Dupont, seconded by Pete Sanuita.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Giroux, Secretary
