The meeting was called to order at 7:00
p.m. by President Rosalie Dupont followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A
moment of silence followed for those active men and women, veterans and all
who have died in service to our country. There were 16 in attendance.
Secretary Barbara Giroux read the Minutes
of the July 2nd meeting, Paul Bluemer made a motion to accept as
read, seconded by Ray Dionne. Kim Goulette made a motion to DELETE the
words “EXCLUDES CLEAN LAKES” from page 3 of the June 4, 2007 Minutes,
seconded by Doris Rivard – duly NOTED by all!
Treasurer Janet Sanuita did out OUTSTANDING
job in presenting the treasurer’s report, with a supplement attached
breaking down all expenses, i.e. parade, etc…..Barb Giroux made a motion to
accept as read, seconded by Rosalie Dupont. The report on clambake, pancake
breakfast, and selling of candy bars was tabled until the next meeting, as
Janet has not received this information as yet. The IRS has notified the
HPA that they are assessing a $1,400.00 penalty because of the lateness in
submitting our taxes. Sue Lastowski, Accountant, is handling this for the
Association, sending a letter trying to get this fee waived for us.
Kim Goulette stated that she has 2 new
members on Pequot Point Road, and membership application should be received
shortly.
Kim passed around the Membership List, and
a discussion followed about how we handle the waterfront owners that need to
be contacted. It was decided that it will be a “personal ask” and each of
us will take designated streets to handle.
Don Leger stated that we are doing a lot
for $25.00 and other ponds charge more. Nancy Pasquini stated that Emma can
now go to the City and ask for monies, and in the future we will all work
together soliciting other avenues.
Kim passed around the draft of the
Newsletter, and asked everyone to send information to her so she could add
to this and publish. It was decided that since photos are on our website
that we do not need to put these in our Newletter, just refer to our
website.
Regarding the Weed Eradication Program, Don
Leger reported that the fall inspection was completed….found some mill foil
– spotty…..a plant here and there but none made its way to the surface. It
was discovered that they did not do any work in front of Dionne’s and this
area will be covered next treatment time. Also, in front of Michael
Cosgrove’s dock will be another area that needs treatment, and in front of
Leo & Mary Claire Demelbauer’s as well.
Sue Lastowski, Accountant, joined us at our
meeting to discuss what needs to be done with changes according to IRS
regulations, etc. She has looked over our bylaws and made some
SUGGESTIONS. Our mission statement needs to be revised as well, and needs
to be hashed over at our next meeting so we can get back to Sue on what
we’ve decided, and she can advise us how it needs to be written. Sue did a
GREAT job and we thanked her for attending our meeting. She is trying to
help insure that the HPA is doing everything according to the laws.
Nancy Pasquini asked if
anyone attended the meeting in Lee. Kim and Art were unable to attend, and
Kim sent out an E-Mail but no one indicated they could go, so we were not
represented at this meeting.
New Business……Row boat for Jericho….Kim
brought in the request from a member of our HPA asking our help for
donations to replace this aluminum boat. A discussion followed that it
could be a winter fundraiser. Nancy Pasquini will ask Gary Massotti on
Pequot Point Road if he has a used boat he’d like to donate. Barb Giroux
made a motion that we support this cause, seconded by Angela Belisle.
A discussion followed regarding our
fundraisers……The tag sale profit was estimated at $800.00 but a report will
follow at next meeting. There will be a 4 day Tag Sale Columbus Day
weekend, October 5, 6, 7 & 8…..Spaghetti Dinner will be held on October 6th,
and the Walk-A-Thon November 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Our Turkey Dinner
will be November 3rd as well. It was unanimously voted that
tickets for the turkey dinner will be $10.00 for adults, and $3.00 for 12
and under, Under 2 will be free.
A lengthy discussion followed re:
trophies/ribbons for the 4th of July Parade and Boat Parade.
Patsy Bluemer made a motion to leave everything as is, except remove
gymnastics, seconded by Barb Giroux. Pete Sanuita advised that he would
take care of providing and paying for the boat parade trophies/ribbons.
With regards to the 4th of July
Parade, a lot of members did not know that we paid each year $300.00 to the
Marching Band. Pete Sanuita asked a GOOD question, why do we pay this
amount. Unfortunately his question was not answered, this NEEDS to be
addressed at our next meeting. Instead, Clean Lakes came up again. We NEED
to work together as a GROUP, and not it’s “them” and “us”!
Janet Sanuita passed out forms for others
to get quotes for Liability Insurance as our policy expires in November of
2007. Paul Bluemer took this information, and Janet will get quotes from
her company.
Barb Giroux made a motion to
adjourn at 8:35 p.m., seconded by Rosalie Dupont.
Respectfully Submitted,
Barbara Giroux
Secretary
